Retail prices have remained stable and demand has failed to recover in the Turkish steel plate market. "Due to low demand, we could not increase our prices, but discounts are now limited in the market. However, producers’ offers have started to move up," a trader told SteelOrbis. "We have seen increases in both hot rolled coil and scrap prices in Turkey. I think traders’ plate prices will increase soon too," another trader said.
Erdemir's prices for plate have increased by $20/mt since last week to $510-520/mt ex-works for S235JR quality and are now at $560/mt ex-works for S355 JR quality plates, for October production.
Demand has also remained low for imported plates and discounts are still possible up to $20-30/mt. Bulgaria’s Stomana Industry S.A. is in the market with $520-530/mt CFR for S235JR grade and $560-570/mt CFR for S355JR grade for September production. In the shipbuilding plate segment, Macedonia-based Makstil’s price is at €470-480/mt CFR for September deliveries, SteelOrbis has learned.
