US import HDG prices still climbing

US import hot dipped galvanized and Galvalume coil prices have continued to climb since our last report a week ago, but some buyers say they still prefer to book offshore due to similar lead times for domestic and imported steel.

Interest in booking offshore HDG and Galvalume coil is underscored by recent data from the US Department of Commerce, which indicates that license data for imported hot dipped sheets and strip was recorded at 217,510 mt in March, against 159,937 mt in February.
