The big news at the end of last week was that the Trump administration agreed to lift Section 232 tariffs against Canada and Mexico. As such, it’s believed that US import HDG and Galvalume prices from Mexico are about to revise downward.
“I think you will see a change in the Texas market the most,” a source said. “It also might be interesting to see how this could change SDIs plans for a steel mill down there. As far as price offering is concerned it’s tough to gauge in a falling market. Obviously they will need to be competitive, but can you reasonably argue that they will drive prices down if the market dynamics are already there?”
