Spot market prices for US domestic hot dipped galvanized (HDG) and Galvalume coil are still mostly stable, although sources close to SteelOrbis have indicated that “big players” in the market can still buy at price points that are approximately $1.00 cwt. ($22/mt or $20/nt) below the average range.
Scrap prices have settled upward during this month’s buy cycle, and it’s expected that mills will try to use that to their advantage. It’s possible that slight additional firming may take place within the next week on the heels of higher scrap prices.
