US HDG prices hold stable, price increase expected

US HDG prices have remained neutral since our last report a week ago, but sources close to SteelOrbis say they believe a price increase is on the horizon. “There’s a lot of talk about mills rolling something out sooner than later,” a source said. “Especially in light of the fact that scrap prices fared better this month than a lot of people thought they would.”

Outside of the speculated, “perhaps imminent” price increase announcement rumor, the market as a whole, is unchanged week-over-week. Lead times are also stable, at 5-7 weeks, depending on the mill.
