US CRC prices still hanging on

The most commonly reported spot price transaction range for US domestic cold rolled coil (CRC) continues to hold steady, at $41-$42 cwt. ($904-$926/mt or $820-$840/nt), ex-Midwest mill, despite recent corrections that have been seen within the US HRC spot market.  “The annual summer slowdown is being felt across the marketplace,” one source said, adding that despite lessened activity, US CRC prices are still hanging on.

The steadiness of the US CRC spot market to strong activity within the US auto industry.  Auto sales in June were the best they’ve been in more than 10 years.

Ex-mill lead times continue to trend at approximately six to eight weeks.
