The most commonly heard spot market price range for US domestic CRC is still holding in the range of $35-$37 cwt. ($772-$816/mt or $700-$740/nt), ex-mill, although sources close to SteelOrbis have said that deals up to $1.00 cwt. ($22/mt or $20/nt) are available.

“There is no market price right now,” a source said. “The price depends on who is buying and what their order looks like. Mills are still quoting at $37 cwt. ($816/mt or $740/nt), but I can’t believe anyone is paying that.”

Sources also note that some buyers are holding off on placing orders, due to the expectation that prices are likely to soften further in April. Earlier this week, SteelOrbis reported that US domestic scrap prices are expected to trend downward by as much as $50/gt ($51/mt) during next month’s buy cycle.
