Turkish hot dip galvanized (HDG) market were expected to see some recovery in September, but as of the first week of September no changes have been seen in either HDG demand or prices. Demand has still remained sluggish, while prices are stable.

In the Turkish domestic market sales prices for HDG are as follows:

Product

Price ($/mt)

HDG   0.50 mm  100gr/m²

790-800

HDG   1 mm  100gr/m²

760-770

HDG   2 mm  100gr/m²

740-760

The above prices, which may differ depending on product quality, are ex-works, exclude VAT, and are for advance payments.

On the export side, Chinese HDG export offers to the Middle East, which are standing at $620-640/mt FOB, have weakened demand for ex-Turkey HDG in the region. Meanwhile, Turkish export offers for 0.50 mm 100gr/m² zinc coated HDG coils to certain Middle Eastern markets are still standing at $810-820/mt ex-works for September production.

If demand does not register some improvements, Turkish HDG prices will likely soften, both in the local and export markets.
