Turkish domestic and export HDG prices increase

Over the past week, prices in the local Turkish hot dip galvanized (HDG) market have increased in line with the uptrend of hot rolled coil (HRC) prices in domestic market. However, the increases in domestic HDG prices have been far bigger than those in domestic HRC prices, with HDG prices rising by $70/mt week on week, since a Turkish HDG producer which had been making offers at the lower end of the price range closed its sales yesterday, April 26.

Meanwhile, HDG prices in the local Turkish market for April production are currently as follows:

Product

Price ($/mt)

Change ($/mt)

HDG   0.50 mm  100gr/m²

700-750

↑70

HDG   1 mm  100gr/m²

640-670

↑70

HDG   2 mm  100gr/m²

610-635

↑70

The above prices, which may differ depending on product quality, are ex-works, exclude VAT, and are for advance payments.

Meanwhile, demand for Turkish HDG has remained slack in the export markets as buyers consider ex-Turkey HDG offers to be on the high side. However, ex-Turkey HDG export prices have increased by $65/mt on average week on week to the range of $700-720/mt FOB for April production, due to the uptrend of HRC prices in the global markets.
