Amid the sharp uptrend in the domestic hot rolled coil (HRC) segment coupled with the decent demand for the flat steel, local re-rollers in Turkey have increased their offers for coated steel. Local prices have risen by $30-50/mt since earlier this week. Most of the producers are sold out for January and some are rather far along in terms of selling February production. In addition, there are also offers in the market for March production. "Demand is good and raw material prices are getting higher every day. Also, the stronger lira has supported trading activity," a producer told SteelOrbis. Demand is also still good for exports and export prices have increased by $30/mt since Tuesday this week. Overall, since the end of October, coated steel prices increased by $90-95/mt, according to SteelOrbis’ data.
