Traders lack optimism in sluggish Chinese domestic PPGI market

During the week ending Apr 4, pre-painted galvanized iron (PPGI) prices in the Chinese domestic market have maintained a stable trend. Average PPGI prices in the Chinese market can be viewed in the SteelOrbis price reports section.

During the given week, transaction activity in the Chinese PPGI market has remained poor, while the volumes of new materials arriving in the market are not on the high side, with the result that there is no great pressure on market prices from inventory at the current time. Although it is considered that PPGI prices do not have much room for downward movement as they have declined to their lowest levels in recent years, traders are not optimistic on the prospects for the market in the coming period since transaction activity and profit margins are still on the low side. Traders in the market are mostly focused on reducing their inventory levels.

Demand from downstream users is expected to be somewhat better in April as the peak season for consumption approaches. For the coming week, it is expected that PPGI prices in the Chinese domestic market will again move sideways.
