Although local demand for plate in Turkey has slowed down, following some restocking activity, the prices for plates of certain origins have continued to increase. The main reason is the uptrend in the scrap segment and in hot rolled coil (HRC) offers in the country. In the meantime, some mills are said to be more or less sold out, which has also supported prices.
According to sources, domestic producer Erdemir has increased its offers for December production by another $30-50/mt to $1,050-1,080/mt ex-works for S235JR. The volumes for the mentioned production terms are reportedly limited and the mill is said to be offering for January deliveries already. The local ex-warehouse price for S235JR plate is reportedly standing at $1,140-1,160/mt ex-warehouse, while S355JR material is available at $50/mt higher.
In the import segment, Bulgaria’s Stomana increased its offer to Turkey by $10/mt over the past week to $1,050/mt CFR. The price level from South Korea has been raised by $20/mt to $1,000/mt CFR, SteelOrbis has learned. The offers from Romania’s Galati have rebounded by $25/mt over the past week to $1,025/mt CFR as a targeted level. In the meantime, according to sources, Ukraine’s Metinvest has increased its prices by $20/mt over the past week to $950-970/mt CFR. However, the information has not been confirmed by the time of publication.
