Stagnancy prevails in local Turkish HDG market due to Ramadan

Demand in the local Turkish hot dip galvanized (HDG) market is still slack this week, while buyers continue to conclude bookings only to meet their immediate needs amid the stagnancy of the market due to Ramadan, as they expect that activity will recover after the end-of-Ramadan holiday. With the sideways movement last week of Turkish steel producers’ quotations for hot rolled coil (HRC) - the raw material for HDG production, Turkish HDG producers’ prices have maintained their prices unchanged week on week.

Meanwhile, demand for Turkish producers’ HDG is also slack in the export markets, while Turkish producers’ HDG export prices have remained stable at $600-650/mt FOB during the past week. However, market sources state that overseas buyers are offering discounts of $10-30/mt depending on tonnage.
