A major distributor in the Brazilian southern region told SteelOrbis that he is selling CRC in the domestic market at BRL2,550/mt ($904/mt) FOB full taxes except IPI, against BRL2,483/mt under the same terms in January.

Such high domestic prices are still fueling imports of the product, which have increased 94 percent since December to 45,000 mt in January, almost entirely from China, at an average FOB price of $607/mt.

Meanwhile, Brazil exported 28,300 mt of CRC in January, 13 percent less than in December, at an average FOB price of $694/mt, of which $620/mt FOB by ArcelorMittal, $686/mt FOB by CSN and $787/mt FOB by Usiminas Cosipa.
