Since demand has improved slightly this week, Romanian flat steel traders and the sole local producer, who had been waiting for consumers to approve the higher prices, have decided to raise flat steel prices even further.
As a result of the slight improvements in the market, the domestic mill’s offers for HRC for May-June bookings have increased by €30/mt to €800/mt ex-works from last week. Likewise, the price of cold rolled coil has risen by €10/mt to €915/mt ex-works.
Additionally, the mill’s domestic market price for HDG has risen to €960/mt ex-works from €945/mt ex-works and the PPGI price has increased by €50/mt week on week to €1,280/mt ex-works.
Moreover, according to Romanian traders, even more price rises are anticipated in the coming weeks if demand continues to increase steadily, while they also report that global flat steel prices have been rising and that scrap prices have also been moving up, allowing retailers reason to be optimistic.
Currently, traders' prices for hot rolled sheets have increased to €860-870/mt ex-warehouse, up from €820-850/mt ex-warehouse in the previous week. On the other hand, the feasible price for cold rolled sheets has been maintained at €1,000-1,070/mt ex-warehouse as interest from buyers has remained weak.
In the import segment, according to sources, ex-Ukraine HRS offers have remained stable at €800/mt DAP, while CRS offers have increased by €20/mt to €900/mt DAP. Also, Italy has offered HRS at €1,000/mt DAP.
