The reference export price for Brazilian slabs is $485/mt, stable from last week, FOB conditions for basic commercial grades.
Remaining in the higher level since July 2025, the price is now positively affected by the demand from the US, destination of 57 percent of the Brazilian exports of the product in November. Positive expectations from Brazil – US ongoing negotiations about the bilateral trade are also playing a role on prices.
According to Secex, in November Brazil exported 641,500 mt of slabs, against 531,800 mt in October.
Ternium exported 336,000 mt to the US in November at $517/mt, while ArcelorMittal Tubarão exported 82,900 mt at $445/mt to Poland and 30,100 mt at $550/mt to Argentina.
ArcelorMittal Pecem exported 52,900 mt at $446/mt to Turkey, 51,800 mt at $478/mt to Mexico, 29,900 mt at $496/mt to the US and 28,000 mt at $527/mt to the UK, and Gerdau exported 29,900 mt at $453/mt to Italy, all FOB conditions.
No slabs imports were cleared through Brazilian customs in November and December, even though a large quantity remains stored at the ports. Importers are waiting for favorable exchange rates before clearing their shipments.
