Quiet demand for flat steel imports in Turkey

Demand for import flat steel in Turkey has remained slack over the past week, while no new price offers have been heard from CIS-based suppliers due to Orthodox Christmas (January 1-7). Although Turkish buyers are expected to start making price inquiries for import flat steel next week, they will likely exert pressure on prices due to their strong expectation that prices will decrease further in the coming period.

During the past week, ex-CIS flat steel prices have remained stable, with hot rolled coil (HRC) and cold rolled coil (CRC) prices moving sideways at $465-490/mt CFR and $560-580/mt CFR, respectively.
