Over the past week, demand in the local Turkish hot dip galvanized (HDG) coil market has remained slack due to the end-of-Ramadan holiday. However, Turkish HDG producers have increased their prices by $20/mt week on week as their production costs have increased amid the uptrend of domestic hot rolled coil (HRC) prices. According to market players, buyers are expected to step up their bookings slightly - which they have postponed for a long time - after the upcoming election.

Accordingly, domestic producers’ HDG prices in the local Turkish market, excluding 18 percent VAT, are at the following levels:

Product

Price ($/mt)

Weekly change ($/mt)

HDG   0.50 mm  100gr/m²

760-790

↑20

HDG   1 mm  100gr/m²

700-755

↑20

HDG   2 mm  100gr/m²

655-680

↑20

Meanwhile, Turkish mills’ HDG export quotations have also increased by $20/mt week on week, to $765-785/mt FOB.
