A major Brazilian exporter is considering an 8 percent increase for domestic and export prices of Galvalume.

The source mentioned that the decision involves different marketing aspects, such as serving the most profitable domestic market or increasing production to serve both domestic and export markets.

“So far we are holding the export price at $800/mt, FOB conditions, but an increase could be implemented soon,” the source said.

In April, Brazil exported 9,400 mt of Galvalume, almost entirely to the US, at an average FOB price of $705/mt, price deals probably closed in February, according to the country’s ministry of development, industry and foreign trade, MDIC.

In Brazil, CSN and ArcelorMittal are licensed to produce Galvalume by BIEC.
