A major distributor in Brazil’s southern region told SteelOrbis that he maintained the same price of BRL2,360/mt  ($885/mt), FOB full taxes except IPI, in the country’s domestic market over thirty days, but next week the price will go up between 6 percent to 7 percent, to compensate for the domestic inflation and the devaluation of the BRL vis-à-vis the $.

Between April and December 2014, the BRL lost 26 percent of its value next to the $, reducing imports and increasing exports of most steel products.

During 2014, the Brazilian exports of CRC went up by 47 percent to 175,700 mt, at an average FOB price slightly reduced to $728/mt, while the country’s imports of the product in 2014 is moving downward since a peak of 90,000 mt in July, to reach 23,000 mt in December.

In December, the Brazilian exports of CRC went up by 1.3 percent from November to 32,500 mt at an average FOB price of $679/mt, while imports of the product went down by 26 percent to 23,000 mt at an average FOB price reduced by 4 percent to $616/mt.
