While closely watching developments in the global hot rolled coil (HRC) market, Pakistani customers have preferred to refresh their inventories whenever possible.
Accordingly, once foreign suppliers started to announce their HRC offers for December production, Pakistani re-rollers joined negotiations actively. By the middle of the current week, one of them booked 10,000 mt of South-Korean SAE1006 HRC at $545/mt CFR Karachi, LC payment. As SteelOrbis reported previously, initially South Korean producer POSCO was targeting $550/mt CFR Karachi.
In the meantime, Japanese and Taiwanese HRC is available at $555-560/MT CFR Karachi, with Pakistani buyers expecting to get discounts.
