A source linked to a Brazilian producer told SteelOrbis that the reference price for the export of hot dipped galvanized products (HDG) remains at $700/mt, stable since a $80/mt decline six weeks ago, FOB conditions, having the G40 grade and 4.75mm thickness product as reference.
Steel producers in Brazil remain in a process of reducing production while focusing on exports to compensate for the reduction of the domestic demand.
In April, Brazil exported 35,800 mt of HDG, comparable with 41,300 mt in March.
The US was the main destination, reportedly closing the second quarter quota under US Section 232, with 23,600 mt at $766/mt shipped by CSN, which also shipped 600 mt at $785/mt to Uruguay and 300 mt at $716/mt to Canada, both FOB conditions, different quality grades and price deals probably closed in February.
All other destinations were South American countries, with Usiminas exporting 9,300 mt at $777/mt and ArcelorMittal exporting 2,000 mt at $772/mt, same conditions as above.
