The relatively stable trend of the US dollar-Turkish lira exchange rate has allowed flat steel demand in Turkey to pick up slightly, though the demand level is still low. Even though buyers' interest in local mills' offers has increased as compared to past month, buyers want to hear new import offers before concluding monthly purchases in line with their needs. The new import offers for Turkey, which are expected to be announced in the coming week, will likely remain at their previous levels since price hikes have failed to gain acceptance in the global markets and demand has remained on the poor side in Turkey.
In the meantime, the latest flat steel offers for Turkey were as follows: Ukrainian HRC offers for Turkey were at $545-550/mt CFR, while Ukrainian cold rolled coil (CRC) offers were at $625-630/mt CFR. Meanwhile, ex-Russia HRC offers stood at $560-615/mt CFR, while Russian CRC offers could be found at $725-745/mt CFR. In addition, Slovakian and Romanian HRC offers to Turkey were at $565/mt CFR and at $580-585/mt CFR respectively.
