Mexican HDG price decline blamed on international market

Mexican domestic hot dipped galvanized (HDG) prices fell US$13/mt in the last two weeks to reach US$931/mt ex-mill.

The price behavior is consistent with the international market, sources tell SteelOrbis, although demand forecasts are still high due to the expansion of the automotive sector in Mexico, which is expected to continue growing at a high rate.

Currently, the Mexican automotive industry is one of the 10 most dynamic and competitive in the world and in 2013 held the ranking of the world's eighth largest producer of light vehicles, beating Brazil, and sixth in heavy vehicles.
