During the past week, buyers in the local Turkish hot dip galvanized (HDG) coil market have continued to conclude purchases, with demand at decent levels, while prices have remained unchanged. Meanwhile, Turkish mills are expected to increased their HDG prices in the short term since their order books are fairly full and also due to the uptrend of domestic hot rolled coil (HRC) prices.

Domestic producers’ HDG prices in the local Turkish market, excluding 18 percent VAT, are currently as follows:

Product

Price ($/mt)

Weekly Change ($/mt)

HDG   0.50 mm  100gr/m²

750-780

0

HDG   1 mm  100gr/m²

705-730

HDG   2 mm  100gr/m²

Meanwhile, even though demand for Turkish HDG in the export markets is weaker as compared to the domestic market, Turkish HDG export prices are expected to increase in the short term since prices of raw material and flat steel in the global market have continued to rise. For now, Turkish mills’ HDG export quotations have remained stable week on week at $740-770/mt FOB.
