Local Turkish HDG market moves sideways

During the past week, demand in the local Turkish hot dip galvanized (HDG) market has remained at low levels, while buyers have continued to exert downward pressure on prices. However, Turkish coated steel producers are unwilling to reduce their prices as domestic hot rolled coil (HRC) prices are still strong and demand for Turkish HDG in the export markets is good.

Accordingly, domestic producers’ HDG prices in the local Turkish market, excluding 18 percent VAT, are unchanged at the following levels:

Product

Price ($/mt)

Weekly change ($/mt)

HDG   0.50 mm  100gr/m²

780-790

-

HDG   1 mm  100gr/m²

720-755

-

HDG   2 mm  100gr/m²

675-680

-

As demand for Turkish HDG in the global market is at decent levels, Turkish mills’ HDG export quotations have increased by $10/mt on the lower end week on week to $770-790/mt FOB.
