Flat steel spot prices in Turkey have increased significantly over the past month, following the sharp uptrend in domestic mills’ ex-works offers. Traders’ hot rolled and cold rolled coil stock prices have increased by $30/mt, while their prices for pickled and oiled hot rolled products have risen by $40/mt, SteelOrbis has learned.

Turkish traders report that there was a certain improvement in demand in previous weeks, with sales closed at higher prices. However, this week the business activity has slowed down somewhat as buyers aim to evaluate the market, thinking that prices have reached their peak. No significant improvement is sales in expected since the end of the year is approaching, while retail prices will follow the trend of mills’ offers.
