During the week ending June 25, average hot rolled coil (HRC) prices in the Chinese domestic market have increased, while activity in the market has been at low-to-medium levels. Average HRC prices in the local Chinese market are presented in the following table.
During the given week, semi-finished steel prices in China have moved up, while HRC futures prices at Shanghai Futures Exchange (SHFE) have also increased, with these trends providing support for the upward movement of domestic HRC prices. However, following the rapid rises seen in HRC prices, buyers have become more cautious and are showing reluctance to purchase at the higher price levels. It is expected that HRC prices in the Chinese domestic market will fluctuate within a limited range in the coming week.
