China’s domestic stainless steel prices have mostly increased during the past.
Global nickel prices have softened slightly during the past week. On June 6, the three-month nickel price at the London Metal Exchange (LME) closed at $20,955/mt, while LME nickel inventory on the same date totaled 37,530 mt.
Overall trading activity in the domestic stainless steel market has been weak due to the off-season. Stainless steel futures prices have increased, causing the prices of the main stainless steel product categories to rise also. However, some traders have slightly reduced their quoted prices in order to close more deals. Meanwhile, reduced supply volume and lower production during the summer season provide support for stainless steel prices. As for the week ahead, it is believed that stainless steel prices may fluctuate by small margins.
