During the week ending August 2, average prices in the Chinese domestic hot dip galvanized (HDG) market have indicated rises, while transaction activity in the market has been at low-to-medium levels. Average HDG prices in the local Chinese market are presented in the following table.
During the given week, other finished steel products, including hot rolled coil (HRC) and cold rolled coil (CRC) have moved up, exerting a positive impact on HDG prices. Meanwhile, steelmakers’ settlement prices for HDG have been at comparatively high level, bolstering spot HDG prices. However, the demand in the local Chinese HDG market is believed to be slack against the background of hot weather and the approaching typhoon. It is expected that HDG prices in the Chinese domestic market will likely move sideways in the coming week.
