Brazilian producers remain negotiating HRC of the basic commercial grades for export at $620/mt, FOB conditions, a price now stable for seven weeks, a local exporter told SteelOrbis.

In June, ArcelorMittal exported 89,400 mt of HRC at $633/mt, CSN exported 28,200 mt at $1,005/mt, and Usiminas exported 1,400 mt at $994/mt. All prices are FOB conditions, include different quality grades, and were probably closed in April.

The main destinations were Latin America (64,800 mt), Portugal (27,700 mt) and Turkey (26,500 mt).

According to the source, the volume of HRC exports from Brazil is set to decline, as the current level of prices, with a premium of around $40/mt over the feedstock slab, is not sufficient to justify the cost of rolling operations.
