How long will US CRC prices remain stable?

Pricing for both US domestic and import CRC have remained lateral since our last report a week ago; domestic CRC spot market prices continue to trend between  $49.50-$50.50 cwt. ($1,091-$1,113/mt or $990-$1,010/nt) ex-mill, while offers for import CRC in the US domestic market from Turkey, Australia, Egypt, Vietnam and Mexico have remained in the range of $44-$45 cwt. ($970-$992/mt or $880-$900/nt), DDP loaded truck in US Gulf coast ports.

Activity is still robust, which at current, is helping to keep US CRC prices strong. Current price points are $10 cwt. ($220/mt or $200/nt) higher than they were during the same reporting period in 2017.

And while some are still questioning whether tariffs against Mexico and Canada will be lifted, as that would surely have an impact on domestic pricing, others point out that under the current administration, “it’s impossible to know where this thing is going.”

“Anyone who claims to not be guessing is lying,” a source said. “We’re all just taking things day by day.”
