HDG exports from Brazil should recover in volume

A Brazilian exporter told SteelOrbis that the country’s exports of hot dipped galvanized products (HDG), which have declined from July by 67 percent to 10,300 mt in August, should have a small increase in September.

According to the source, this is due to reduced seasonal demand from the US market, coupled with the postponement of shipments from August to September due to the lack of availability of ships during the month.

The reduced exports have reflected chiefly exports by CSN to the US reduced from 25,400 mt in July to 2,000 mt in August, while exports by Usiminas have doubled to 7,800 mt.

The source mentioned that the Brazilian exports of HDG products remain closed in average at $756/mt, FOB conditions, having the G40 grade as reference, a price stable since early July 2016.
