The reference price for Brazilian hot dipped galvanized (HDG) exports to South American countries is $1,150/mt, against $1,100/mt four weeks ago, CFR conditions, having the G40 grade and 4.75 mm thickness product as reference.
In December, Brazil exported 23,600 mt and imported 25,700 mt of HDG, against respectively 17,300 mt and 22,900 mt in November.
The exports in December were destined to the US (19,700 mt at $1,371/mt) and to South America (3,800 mt at $1,668/mt), all FOB conditions, while small volumes were shipped to Mexico and Algeria.
The exporters were CSN (19,700 mt at $1,371/mt), Usiminas (3,400 mt at $1,681/mt), ArcelorMittal (400 mt at $1,608/mt) and traders (100 mt at $1,478/mt).
The imports were from China (24,600 mt at $993/mt), South Korea (600 mt at $1,137/mt) and Europe (500 mt at $1,526/mt), also FOB conditions.
In the Brazilian domestic market, HDG is currently sold by producers, in medium to large volumes, to end users or distributors, at BRL 7,100/mt ($1,395/mt), against BRL 6,900/mt four weeks ago, ex-works, no taxes included.
