Domestic HRC price declines in Brazil

Steel distributors in Sao Paulo are negotiating HRC for the domestic market at BRL 3,700/mt ($1,003/mt) ex-works, full taxes except IPI, having the 1008/1012 grades, 4.75mm thickness product as reference, against BRL 3,825/mt two weeks ago, same conditions.The reference price is usually entitled to significant discounts in case of large volumes or direct acquisition from the steel producers.

Meanwhile, local producer CSN announced price increases for its HRC and CRC products of 11.75 percent, effective as of June 1.

In April, Brazil imported from South Korea 800 mt of HRC at $664/mt, FOB conditions, and small volumes from the US and Japan.

The last offer of HRC received by Brazilian importers from China was priced at $623/mt, CFR conditions, having the A36/Q235 grade product as reference.
