In the Italian market, flat steel prices have continued to trend sideways over the past two weeks, after reaching their maximum levels since 2011 at the beginning of March this year. According to market sources, local prices should remain stable in Italy - and in Europe too - due to the lack of competitive import offers and at the same time due to the wait for the next developments regarding international steel tariffs and the ongoing EU safeguard investigation. Domestic hot rolled coil (HRC) base prices in Italy are currently at €555-560/mt ($677-683/mt), while domestic cold rolled coil (CRC) and hot dip galvanized (HDG) coil quotations are respectively at €635-645/mt ($775-787/mt) and €640-650/mt ($781-793/mt), all ex-works.
