According to market sources, demand in the local Turkish hot dip galvanized (HDG) market is still on the weak side, while prices have remained unchanged week on week. Following the increased buying activity seen in the market last week due to an unexpected supply problem, trading activity has decreased this week.

Meanwhile, HDG prices in the local Turkish market for January production are currently as follows:

Product

Price ($/mt)

HDG   0.50 mm  100gr/m²

590-610

HDG   1 mm  100gr/m²

535-555

HDG   2 mm  100gr/m²

515-525

The above prices, which may differ depending on product quality, are ex-works, exclude VAT, and are for advance payments.

Meanwhile, demand for HDG in Turkish producers’ export markets is still weak, while Turkish sellers’ HDG export offers have remained stable week on week at $570-600/mt  FOB, for January shipment. However, buyers consider Turkish HDG prices to be very high and find them unacceptable, following last week’s price increases.
