Demand still fails to impress in local Chinese HDG market

During the week ending April 3, the Chinese domestic hot dip galvanized (HDG) market has indicated a stable trend. Demand has not shown any significant improvement, with transaction activity remaining slack. Average HDG prices in the local Chinese market can be viewed in the SteelOrbis price reports section.

In the given week, most traders have been downbeat on the prospects for the market in the coming period and have been focused on selling off inventory in order to bring in cash, instead of focusing on building up inventory. Meanwhile, the declines in CRC prices in the Chinese domestic market during the given period may exert a negative impact on HDG prices. It is expected that the Chinese domestic HDG market will just fluctuate within a narrow range in the week ahead.
