Demand for Turkish flat steel still weak in export markets

This week, flat steel offers from China and the CIS continue to negatively impact price levels in Turkish flat steel exporters' target markets. Chinese offers for 1.0 mm cold rolled coil (CRC) have decreased to $410/mt FOB, while Chinese offers for 0.5 mm CRC have declined to $415/mt FOB, with both these levels constituting five-year lows. Market players state that demand for Turkish flat steel in the export markets is quite weak due to the long-standing downward pressure on prices.

Turkish hot rolled coil (HRC) offers to the export markets have remained stable during the given week in the range of $400-410/mt FOB, with Turkish cold rolled coil (CRC) export offers still at $520-525/mt FOB, both for July production
