During the week ending April 11, average cold rolled coil (CRC) prices in the Chinese domestic market have continued to move up, increasing slightly, while transaction activity in the overall market has been at medium levels. Average cold rolled product prices in the local Chinese market are presented in the following table.
During the given week, ferrous metal futures prices in China have increased, exerting a positive impact on CRC prices in the domestic spot market. Meanwhile, demand has improved after the Tomb Sweeping Holiday (April 5-6), also positively affecting the CRC market, while CRC prices are also supported from the cost side by rises in semi-finished steel prices. However, the trade friction between China and the US has resulted in increased uncertainty in the market. It is thought that CRC prices in the Chinese domestic market will likely move sideways in the coming week.
