As of February 15, average prices of pre-painted galvanized iron (PPGI) in the Chinese domestic market are unchanged week on week, while transaction activity in the domestic market has been at low levels. Average PPGI prices in the local Chinese market are presented in the following table.
During the given week, only a few players in the PPGI market have returned from the holiday so far. Demand for PPGI has not shown any improvement, resulting in low activities. Although on the first trading day following the long holiday prices of finished steel rose significantly due to the sharp increases seen in ferrous metal futures prices in China, they have declined again to the previous levels in subsequent days because of quiet demand. It is expected that PPGI prices in the Chinese domestic market will rise slightly in the coming week as more market participants return from their holiday.
