During the week ending January 26, average prices of pre-painted galvanized iron (PPGI) in the Chinese domestic market have moved sideways, while transaction activity in the domestic market has been at low levels. Average PPGI prices in the local Chinese market are presented in the following table.
During the given week, the cold snowy weather conditions in China have exerted a negative impact on activity in the local PPGI market, while the approach of the Chinese New Year Holiday (February 15-21) has also contributed to the slackness of demand for PPGI. However, domestic hot rolled coil (HRC) prices have moved sideways, providing support for the stability of PPGI prices in the spot market. It is thought that PPGI prices in the Chinese domestic market will likely continue their stable trend in the coming week.
