During the week ending March 8, average prices of pre-painted galvanized iron (PPGI) in the Chinese domestic market have edged up slightly, while transaction activity in the domestic market has been at low-to-medium levels. Average PPGI prices in the local Chinese market are presented in the following table.
During the given week, domestic PPGI prices have risen slightly as the large state-owned PPGI producers have raised their ex-works prices for PPGI. However, demand for PPGI has not shown any significant improvement as downstream users are mostly maintaining a wait-and-see stance to gain a clearer picture of the future prospects for the PPGI market. It is expected that PPGI prices in the Chinese domestic market will likely move up further in the coming week as demand is expected to improve.
