Chinese domestic HDG market continues to see weak demand

During the week ending December 11, Chinese domestic hot dip galvanized (HDG) prices have been mostly stable in the past week, though some very slight downticks have been seen for thin specifications, while overall transaction activity is still at low levels. Average HDG prices in the local Chinese market can be viewed in the SteelOrbis price reports section.

During the given week, most traders have been seeking to sell HDG materials in order to bring in cash, and so there has been room for negotiation on prices in actual transactions. Meanwhile, since hot rolled coil (HRC) has been in short supply, outputs have been negatively impacted at some HDG producers, and this has provided a certain degree of support for HDG prices. It is thought that HDG prices in the Chinese domestic market may indicate a slight downtrend in the coming week due to weak demand amid cold winter weather conditions.
