Caution prevails in Chinese CRC market despite upticks

During the week ending September 12, cold rolled coil (CRC) prices in the Chinese domestic market have rebounded, while traders are still mostly standing on the sidelines due to insufficient confidence. Average CRC prices in the Chinese market can be viewed in the SteelOrbis price reports section.

Although prices in the Chinese domestic CRC market have moved up slightly, traders still lack confidence. Amid the upticks in prices, market demand has witnessed a small improvement, but traders are not willing to purchase large tonnages and are mostly maintaining a wait-and-see stance. At the same time, downstream users are continuing to place orders just in line with their needs. Without enough support from actual demand, it is thought that the Chinese CRC market may be unlikely to follow a rising trend in the coming week.
