With a sharp decline of exports in August, 292 mt against 6,300 mt in July, and imports stable at 17,000 mt, Brazil remains for the second consecutive month a net importer of Galvalume, according to numbers of the local ministry of development industry and foreign trade MDIC.

The exports were comprised almost entirely by CSN to clients in the US, at an average FOB price of $740/mt, FOB conditions, with price deals probably closed in June.

All the imports were from China at $575/mt, FOB conditions.

The most recent Galvalume export deals in Brazil were closed at $860/mt, FOB conditions, a local exporter told SteelOrbis.

The source mentioned that Galvalume exports, such as in the case of all hot dipped galvanized products (HDG), remain a marginal sale for the local producers CSN and ArcelorMittal, as prices in the domestic market are more attractive.
