Beijing-based Chinese steelmaker Beijing Shougang Co.,Ltd. have issued their prices for steel products for delivery in May this year.
Accordingly, Beijing Shougang has decided to raise its local base prices by RMB 100/mt ($14.6/mt) for hot rolled coil (HRC), pickled steel plate, galvalume, high-aluminum zinc aluminum magnesium, pre-painted galvanized iron (PPGI), medium-aluminum zinc aluminum magnesium, medium steel plate, non-oriented electrical steel, while keep its local base prices stable for cold rolled coil (CRC) and hot dip galvanized (HDG), all for delivery in May.
Beijing Shougang followed the move of Baosteel, announced earlier in April. Demand for CRC and HDG posted some improvement in the middle of April, but it was still lagging behind than in other segments like HRC. “In the export market, some big exporters were trying to push more high value items and for this they keep prices stable,” a Chinese source commented last week.
