Activity still slow in Chinese domestic HDG market

During the week ending November 13, Chinese domestic hot dip galvanized (HDG) prices have continued to follow a stable trend, while overall transaction activity has remained slack. Average HDG prices in the local Chinese market can be viewed in the SteelOrbis price reports section.

During the given week, traders have mostly kept their sales prices stable, while transaction activity has been at low levels. Meanwhile, domestic steel giant Baosteel has issued its prices for December deliveries, keeping its HDG prices unchanged. However, booking activities from downstream buyers might not show any improvement even against the backdrop of stable ex-works prices for HDG from steelmakers, and so traders will likely adopt a cautious stance towards the HDG market in the coming period. It is expected that HDG prices in the Chinese domestic market will remain stable in the week ahead.
