Activity still on lackluster side in local Chinese CRC market

During the week ending August 27, prices in the Chinese domestic cold rolled coil (CRC) market have just indicated slight fluctuations, with both minor increases and decreases being seen, while transaction activity has continued to be at low levels. Average CRC prices in the local Chinese market can be viewed in the SteelOrbis price reports section.

During the given week, some CRC specifications in short supply indicated slight upticks in prices, though CRC prices in most regions of the country have declined slightly. Traders mostly hold a pessimistic view of the prospects for the market.

Declining trends in the stock market and in the steel futures market have exerted a negative impact on the Chinese CRC spot market. Meanwhile, slack demand and tightness of liquidity near the end of the month have also affected the market. For the coming week, it is expected that prices of common CRC specifications in the Chinese domestic market will continue to follow a soft trend, while prices of other CRC specifications in short supply may see some slight upticks.
