Zlatoust Metallurgical Works (ZMZ), a subsidiary of the Russian steel producer ESTAR Holding, has announced that it has started the production of a new type of alloys chrome-nickel-molybdenum basis, with the trial batch being produced in March this year. In May, the plant plans to produce about 2,500 mt of the new alloy, which is used in the nuclear industry.
In line with ZMZ's program for the development of new high-tech product types, since the beginning of 2010 the plant has produced more than 30,000 mt of steel products of new grades and sizes, including rebar, rolled steel products meeting high standards in terms of surface smoothness, square and round billets, and hexagons with rigidly regulated mechanical properties for the aviation industry.
ZMZ plans in the nearest future to organize the production of special profiles (bulb bars) which are used in shipbuilding, and to improve the production of bearing steel.
"We are gradually returning to the production of special steels and alloys, which is a traditional range for ZMZ. Our technical and production potential also allows us to develop new types of products, while due to increased orders for the plant's entire product range, we are continuously improving our production results," reads the company's statement.
